Standout Lady Tiger golfer Madison Caldwell was selected to the Class AAA All-State team last week.

Caldwell will be an upcoming junior this school year.

"I think it is a great honor for Madison considering she is just a sophomore," said head coach Wes Greer.

Caldwell said she was honored to receive the selection.

"It's really cool to get a top honor such as all-state," she said.

Caldwell won the Region 7-AAA championship at Scales Creek Golf Course in Homer.

She completed the 18-hole event with a two over par 74 to win the region against 23 other golfers back in late April.

The Dawson County sophomore then competed in the state tournament at Chateau Elan in Braselton where she finished in fifth place with an 18-hole total of 81.

Caldwell was only two shots behind fourth place finished Gracie Henderson from Blessed Trinity.

Winning the state individual championship was Hannah Berger of Elbert County, who shot a 73.
Taking the girls team title was North Oconee with a team score of 245. Runner-up was Woodward Academy with a score of 270.

"I like to play serious golf," Caldwell said. "I hope to play on a high-level college team and then be a top professional golfer. I want to be a well-known women's golfer."

Her mother, Anne, said she is proud of her daughter's accomplishments.

"I am really proud of her. Madison always tries to do her best at everything," she said.

Caldwell recently completed a tournament at the Atlanta Athletic Club where she finished in seventh place out of 60 golfers.

Joining Caldwell on the all-state team are: Berger, Jocelyn Blair (North Murray), Crockett Floyd (North Oconee), Gracie Henderson (Blessed Trinity), Ansley Brock (North Oconee), Jakari Harris (Woodward Academy), Cara Gowder (Banks County) and Mia Gill (Woodward Academy).

Madison is the daughter of Dave and Anne Caldwell.
