Dawson County High School varsity soccer coach Jed Lacey was noticeably unhappy with how his third-ranked Dawson County Tigers played against White County on March 22 at Tiger Stadium.

"It was a very sluggish game," Lacey said. "I knew coming back from the Tournament of Champions in Jekyll Island we would have to get the engines going again. This was not one of our better games, but we pushed through it and did enough to win. I'm glad we got that game out of our system."

Despite the lackluster play of his Tigers, Dawson County won the contest 4-1 against the Warriors who are currently 3-7 overall.

Sam Muenchen got Dawson on the board with 22:08 left before halftime on an assist from Josh Lund.

Less than six minutes later, Dawson scored again on a penalty kick from Drew Bishop.

White County wouldn't go away and scored with 9:36 left on the clock to make it a 2-1 Tiger lead at halftime.

Goals by Jose Miranda and Sal Mendoza in the second half put the game out of reach for White County.

"Sal Mendoza had a great game and was a bright spot for us tonight. Sal plays with so much energy and has such a great skill set that he makes things happen every time the ball is on his foot," Lacey said.

Brooks Fulford got the win in goal for the Tigers.

"What a great job from our keep tonight. Brooks might be the best keeper in the state. He stops shots that anyone else would not even get to," Lacey said.

The Tigers are currently 8-0 overall and 1-0 in region play.

This will be a challenging week for Lacey's team. The Tigers play at home against No. 2-ranked West Hall (10-0) today, scores were available as of press time.

On Thursday, the Tigers will welcome Blessed Trinity (7-1-1) to Tiger Stadium.

"We will find out a lot about ourselves this week," Lacey said. "It is going to be fun this week."
