The Dawson County Tigers started region play on the wrong foot Monday night, losing 11-0 to West Hall and not recording a single hit during the effort.

Piedmont College commit Braden Simms struck out 14 Tigers through seven innings. Julian Horner, Carter Turkett and Luke Mulberry all drew walks off of Simms and Kinkade Weaver was hit by a pitch in the seventh innings.

Turkett started the game on the mound, pitching three innings and allowing six earned runs on four hits and three walks. Turkett struck out five batters in the game. Trey Harvey pitched in reliefs allowing only one earned run.

In the seventh inning, the Spartans hit a grand slam, but a Tiger error kept Harvey’s earned run average down.

The loss ends Dawson’s six game win streak but the Tigers get a chance for revenge with two more games this week. They travel to West Hall on Wednesday, March 10 and will be back at home on Friday, March 12, to finish the three game series. Both games start at 5:55 p.m.
