Two golfers will compete in the Class AAA State Championship for Dawson County on Monday.

Madison Caldwell will tee it up at Chateau Elan in Braselton, while boy's golfer Levi Samples will play at Reunion Country Club in Hoschton.

Caldwell makes her way into the championship after winning the Region 7-AAA individual championship. Caldwell shot an 18-round total of 74. She qualified for the state even though the team didn't get in.

"Madison is playing well right now and we hope to see her finish in the top at state," said coach Wes Greer.

Samples qualified as the lowest scoring individual of a non-qualifying team. He shot an 85 at the Region 7-AAA championship. Samples shot just two strokes better than Tiger teammate Jake Phillips to make the cut.

"Levi has gradually improved all year and we hope to see him finish in the top 10 at the state tournament," Greer said.

The coach added that both of his state-bound golfers have made him proud this season.

"I am extremely proud of both these young people. They are great golfers and great kids," he said.
