The Dawson County 12 and under all stars basketball team has done it again. The team won the GRPA District 7 Class B tournament March 1 and will compete in the GRPA State Tournament on March 7 and 9.
The Lady Tigers were perfect in district competition.
The district championship marks the third year in a row that the group of girls have made it to the state event.
The team defeated Habersham County in the team's first game by a score of 47-15, Jackson County in game two by a 57-12 score and Barrow County in the championship with a final score of 57-23.
Marlie Odum led all scorers for the Lady Tigers with 59 points in three games, followed by Madison Anglin with 31, Kinsey Beaty with 20, Rachel Swafford with 19 and Mariah Benson with 16.
"The Lady Tigers put on an offensive show this weekend. We are all very proud and know these girls will represent Dawson County well in the State Tournament," said Dawson County Parks and Recreation Athletic Director Zak Moore.
The team is coached by Stephanie Sosebee, Jacob Tinsley and Cassidy Lecours.
The team is made up of: Odum, Anglin, Beaty, Swafford, Benson, Katya Bessiere, Mattie Grant, Jenna Lecours, Isabella Tinsley, Marlee Townley and Avery Young.
