On Sunday, NASCAR Driver Chase Elliott was once again struck by bad luck after fighting through a promising race and pushing for a strong finish at the Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tenn.

During the Supermarket Heroes 500 on Sunday afternoon, Elliot led the pack for 88 laps and won stage 2 of the race, earning himself 10 stage points towards his overall Nascar Sprint Cup Series standings.

But with two laps left to go in the race, Elliott made a push for first place and collided with driver Joey Logano, sending both vehicles into the middle of the pack.

“Just going for the win,” Elliott said. “I don’t know if I had a tire going down or if I just got loose on entry but as soon as I turned off the wall, I had zero chance of making it.”

Elliott finished Sunday’s race in 22nd, which kept him 3rd in the overall Nascar Sprint Cup Series. He sits behind Logano and Kevin Harvick in the overall rankings.

The NASCAR season will continue on Sunday, June 7 at Atlanta Motor Speedway for the QuikTrip 500. The race begins at 3:00 p.m.
