Elliott continues to lead points

A day after graduating from King's Ridge Christian School, Chase Elliott drove his way to another top-five finish at Iowa Speedway Sunday afternoon and continues to lead in the points standings as he contends for the NASCAR Nationwide Championship in his rookie season.

It was a whirlwind weekend for the 18-year-old from Dawsonville, who flew home from Iowa to attend the graduation ceremony Saturday morning and celebrate a couple hours with family and friends before jetting back to the speedway for qualifying.

After qualifying in the sixth position, Elliott climbed as high as second and finished an impressive fourth after experiencing slow pit stops that he said will be addressed before next week's race at Charlotte.

He leads by two points over Elliott Sadler and JR Motorsports teammate Regan Smith.

Sam Hornish Jr. won the Get to Know Newton 250.

The Nationwide Series next heads to Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend for the History 300 at 2:45 p.m. Saturday. The race airs on ABC.
