Chase Elliott, along with officials from Atlanta Motor Speedway, will be in Dawsonville at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame to promote the Great Clips 300 to benefit Feed the Children on Thursday.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be at 2 p.m. and will give fans a chance to ask the hometown driver questions.

On Friday, Elliott slipped from second to third place in NASCAR's Nationwide Series points standing after placing 20th at the Subway Firecracker 250 at Daytona International Speedway.

"My NAPA Auto Parts Chevy had fuel pressure down the backstretch, but when I went off into turn three, I had nothing," Elliott said in a release. "I tried to shake it back and forth to get the fuel pressure back up and for a moment it started to come up as we entered turn four, but then it went back down."

Elliott, along with eight other drivers, pitted for fuel and tires with three laps to go. Starting back in 23rd place with two laps to go, Elliott was able to move up to 20th before the checkered flag was waved.

"As bad as that was," he said, "it could have been a lot worse."

Despite Elliott's recent disappointing finish, he has been doing great on the track.

In April, the rookie won his first Nationwide Series race in Texas, making him almost the youngest driver to win a race.

And a week later, Elliott made Nationwide Series history at Darlington Raceway. Not only was he the track's youngest winner, but he was the youngest to win two races back-to-back in the series.

And even though Elliott had less than ideal finishes at Daytona, he looks ahead to the track next year.

"We look forward to having fast cars back here next February," he said.
