Lady Tigers historic season continues with sweep of Groves High
The Dawson County Lady Tigers advanced to the Elite Eight of the 2019 GHSA State Tournament on Oct. 22 with a 3-0 win over Groves High School.
With their second straight three set sweep on Oct. 22, the Area 7 No. 2 seeded Dawson County Lady Tigers varsity volleyball team pulled off the upset over the Area 1 No. 1 seed Groves High School Rebels to advance to the Elite Eight of the 2019 GHSA State Volleyball Tournament. The victory leaves the Lady Tigers as the highest ranked team in their bracket and, as a result, they will play host to the Area 4 No. 3 ranked Greater Atlanta Christian Spartans on Saturday, Oct. 26 as both teams look to advance to the Final Four. Overall, north Georgia volleyball is heavily represented in the Elite Eight as, in addition to Dawson County, the North Hall Trojans, Cherokee Bluff Bears and Jackson County Panthers also advanced with wins on Tuesday.
