The Dawsonville Racers finished their season last Saturday, July 19 at Hunters Chase in Cumming.

The team will have two more practices before closing workouts until next summer.

“We would like to thank the Dawson Community News for all your coverage this summer,” head coach Stephanie Morgan said.

“Hopefully it will get the word out and bring more swimmers to our team next year,” she added.

Morgan would also like to thank her assistant Moriah Spicer for all her help this season.

“Moriah did a great job with the kids. Without her it would be almost impossible for me,” Morgan said.

“I would also like to the thank the parents for all their help and support over the season,” she added.

The team ended the season with a positive attitude that will carry over until next season.

“Our kids got better over the summer. They had a blast and that we hope will bring them back next year,” said Morgan.

The goal of the swim team is to introduce young people to the fun and excitement of competitive swimming in a low pressure environment. Each swimmer is expected to learn different strokes and racing techniques.

Members of this year’s team include: Brittany and Haley Adams, Taylor Barrett, Kaylee Barrett, Brandi Butler, Andy Castleberry, Rebecca Ellis, Morgan Johnson, Lindsay O’Saben, Sarah Beth O’Saben, Skye Perry, Michael Putlak, Jeff Putlak, Sarah Rogers, Tiffany Seay, Jackson Morgan and Isabelle Martinez.

The Racers are one of the many programs offered by the Dawson County Park and Recreation Department.

The team swims at Veterans Memorial Park Pool in Dawsonville.
