Willis Hopkins, 86, of Dawsonville, died Aug. 19, 2013.

Mr. Hopkins was born in Marion, Ohio on March 9, 1927, to the late Aaron and Martha Hopkins.

A member of Harmony Baptist Church, he had resided in the Dawsonville/Dahlonega area for 25 years.

Mr. Hopkins was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam and retired from the U.S. Navy Seabees after more than 24 years of military service.

His son, David Willis Hopkins; six brothers; and three sisters, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mary Margaret Hopkins of Tecumseh, Mich.; children, Carolyn and Don Smith, Pat and Greg Betz, all of Marion, Ohio, Donna and Jim Honeycutt of Medina, Tenn., Jacki and Gary Cromwell of Adrian, Mich., Deb and Jim Shoap; brother and sister-in-law, Henry Harrison and Juanita Hopkins of Breckenridge, Mich.; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Burial services will be held in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. The family is planning private memorial services.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville is in charge of the arrangements.
