William James Gravitt, 76, of Dawsonville, died Feb. 15, 2017.

A loving husband, father, and Pop, he was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.

His parents, Albron and Vonceil Gravitt; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Norman and Lula Mae Sexton; brother, Ronnie Gravitt; sister, Lena Anderson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Len Moore, Preston Worley, Burl and Mary Sexton, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Doris Sexton Gravitt of Dawsonville; son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Nicky and Marcy Gravitt of Cumming; daughter, Phyllis McGhee of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Katie and Nathan Vaughan, Josh and Audrey Gravitt, Jenna and Riley Smith, Rachel and Noah Behel; great-grandchildren, Blakely Vaughan, Ava Gravitt; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Linda Gravitt of Dawsonville; sisters, Patsy Worley of Cumming, Carolyn Moore, Susie Gravitt, Joyce Gravitt, all of Dawsonville; sister-in-law, Linda H. Gravitt; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Feb. 18 at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Allen Dixon, Harold Bottoms, Nicky Gravitt and Dexter Gravitt officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions were requested made to the Zion Hill Baptist Church Building Fund or the youth group.

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
