Wilburn Perry Evans Sr., a resident of Anchorage, Alaska, died May 27, 2010.

  

Wilburn was born June 25, 1938 in Dawson. He graduated from high school and later joined the United States Air Force in Tate, Ga., and became a communication technician.

  

Wilburn retired after 20 years of service in the Air Force in 1976 and made Anchorage, Alaska his home.

  

He loved the outdoors, fishing, barbecue, soaking up the sun and spending as much time as he could with his grandchildren. He also loved to take his beloved best friends, his dogs, everywhere with him.

  

Survivors include his longtime companion and wife of 48 years, Maxine; sons, Wilburn Jr. and wife Teresa of Medford, Ore., Tracy and wife Beverly; daughters, Teresa and Priscilla Evans; grandchildren, Marshall, Stephen, Matthew, Celia and Hayden Evans, Logan and Lindsey Sorensen; sister-in-law, Sharron and husband Tom Hinger, Sandra Hughes and Marsha Leindecker; brother-in-law, Gerald Thompson; various other relatives also survive.

  

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. June 25, at Fort Richardson National Cemetery with full military honors.
