Wendell L. Wilkie, 76, of Dawsonville, died April 18, 2017.
Born Oct. 7, 1940 in Pickens County to the late Garnie and Clifford Wilkie, he had lived in Dawson County for more than 50 years.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Wendell was involved in several business adventures.
He was a very devoted Christian and was a member of Juno Baptist Church.
His sister, Ramona Wilkie; and a brother, Neil Wilkie, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Bernice Wilkie of Dawsonville; sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Mary Ann Wilkie of Winder, Preston and Misty Wilkie of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Eli, Sadie, Adley, Michal, Chloe, Achan; various other relatives also survive.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. April 21 at Juno Baptist Church with the remains placed in state at 1 p.m. The Revs. Brody Hughes, Tim Biddy, Dennis Bottoms and Tommy Weldy officiated. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations were requested made to Juno Baptist Church.
Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
