Wayne Painter, 72, of Dahlonega, died July 11, 2014.

Born Nov. 5, 1941, in Dawson County to the late Charlie and Lola Painter, he lived in Lumpkin County for the past 27 years, having moved from Gainesville.

Mr. Painter retired as a mechanical engineer in the poultry industry after more than 40 years of service.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam.

A sister, Annie Lou Wilson; and brothers, J.C. Painter and Dallas Painter, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Dianna Boone Painter of Dahlonega; children, Tracy Painter Rogers of Homer, Stacy Wayne Painter of Jefferson; grandchildren, Bailey Rogers, Bre Rogers, Kade Rogers, Kooper Rogers; brother, Jerry Painter of Dawsonville; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. July 14 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Bo Robinson officiating. Interment followed in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
