Waymon Dee Williams, 67, of Dawsonville, died April 13, 2014.

Born March 8, 1947, in Clarksville, Tenn., he had lived in Dawson County for the past six years, having moved from East Point.

Mr. Williams was a graduate of Hampton High School in Dickson, Tenn., after which he attended Austin Peay University and earned a master's degree from Georgia Tech.

He was formerly employed as an engineer with Indianapolis Power and Light and retired after teaching in the public school system.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam, where he received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

His mother, Hattie Jackson Williams, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his sister, Jan Marie Williams of Clarksville, Tenn.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Welvin and Rhonda Williams of Woodstock, Hurley and Shonnel Williams of Antioch, Tenn.; various other relatives also survive.

Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. April 19 at the Cabin Row Missionary Baptist Church in Southside, Tenn., with the Pastor James Trotter officiating.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
