Wanda Buffington, 92, formerly of Avondale Estates, died Feb. 11, 2015.

She was born Oct. 30, 1922 in Pulaski County, daughter of the late Oscar and Allen Stokes.

Her husband, James "Jack" Buffington, her sister, Camilee S. Wright and a brother, Homer Stokes, preceded her in death.

She worked at Emory University in the 1960s and with her husband in his real estate and property management business until his death in 1979.

She had been a member of various clubs and organizations including Avon Garden Club, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Senior University and Model "A" Restorers Club.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Beth Buffington of Habersham County; daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Ernie Fox of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Bill and Cathleen Freeman of Woodstock, Daniel Buffington and Sarah Daniels of Wilmington, N.C., Marianne Freeman of Dawsonville, five great-grandchildren, Abigail, Caroline and Elena Freeman, Andrew and Jake Hyder; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Feb. 15 in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home. Interment followed in Crestlawn Cemetery in Atlanta.

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
