Thelma Stamey, 79, of Dawsonville, died July 12, 2014.

Born March 13, 1935, in Dawson County to the late Jerry and Braskie Lingerfelt, she lived in DeKalb County for more than 50 years before returning to Dawson County three years ago.

Her husband, Eston Stamey; daughter, Vickie Mitchell; sister, Cindy Rider; and a brother, Bill Lingerfelt, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Robert and Barbara Stamey of Canton, Elbert and Janice Stamey, Susie Stamey, all of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Alisha Mitchell, Adam Mitchell, Will Stamey; sisters, Clora Miller of Auburn, Susie Lingerfelt of Dawsonville; brothers, Jewell Lingerfelt, Roy Lee Lingerfelt, both of Dawsonville; various other relatives also survive.

At her request, Mrs. Stamey was cremated and a private memorial will be held at a later date.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville is in charge of the arrangements.
