Susan Elaine Carter Maciolek, 73, of Cumming, died Feb. 10, 2015.

She was born in Burbank, Calif. on Dec. 6, 1941.

Susan spent most of her adult life in Enfield, Conn., where she worked at Hamilton Standard, eventually retiring from Seabury Retirement Community.

She moved to Georgia in 2006 to be with her children.

She was an active member of Cumming First United Methodist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution Chestatee River Chapter, the Red Hat Society, a volunteer at Northside Hospital Forsyth, as well as many other community and charitable causes.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Matthew E. "Skip" Maciolek of Kihei, Hawaii; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Laura Maciolek of Dawsonville; daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and Scott Coyne of Woodstock; brother, William "Bill" Carter of Los Angeles, Calif.; grandsons, Kyle, Daniel and Trey Maciolek of Dawsonville; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Feb. 16 at Cumming First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kathie Stasko officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made in Susan's name to the Cumming First United Methodist Church Food Pantry, P.O. Box 606, Cumming, GA 30028.

McDonald and Son Funeral Home of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
