Stanley Darnell, 72, died Dec. 13, 2014.

Stanley was a graduate of Forsyth County High School and served in the U.S. Navy.

He attended Coal Mountain Baptist Church.

Stanley was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed football, as he played in high school and also coached youth football.

His son, Scott Darnell; parents, George and Cecile Darnell; stepmother, Katherine Darnell; two nephews, Dan Darnell, Richard Darnell; and his in-laws, Weldon and Dean Corn, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Sue Darnell; son, Steve and Melissa Darnell; daughter-in-law, Janice Darnell; three grandchildren, Kayla, Brice and Sophia Darnell; brother and sister-in-law, Lewis and Hazel Darnell; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Billy and Joan Waters; Melissa's children, TC and Joshua Hubbard; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Dec. 15 in the Ingram's Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Danny Bennett and Alan Sutton officiating. Interment followed at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
