Shirley Garner Clinton, 74, of Gainesville, died Oct. 30, 2016.

Born July 15, 1942 to the late Lee and Eula Lee Garner, Shirley had been a resident of Gainesville for most of her life.

She was a member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church in Murrayville and worked at Gainesville Manufacturing as a seamstress for many years.

Shirley was also the caretaker for her father until he died.

Her two brothers, the Rev. Homer Lee "Buddy" and Jean Garner, Bobby Garner; and sister, Dorothy Nell Thomas, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include her brothers and sister-in-law, James "Butch" and Joyce Garner, Wayne Garner, all of Gainesville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Jane and Freddie Harkins, Corine and Tom Morrison, all of Dawsonville, Carolyn Cochran of Gainesville; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Nov. 1 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jeff Garner, Mike Garner and Kenny Garner officiating. Interment followed in the Yellow Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
