Roger Padgett

Roger Padgett, 69, of Dawsonville, died Nov. 17, 2013.

Born Feb. 20, 1944, to the late George and Lillie Padgett, he was a lifelong resident of Dawson County.

Roger retired as a U.S. Mail carrier after 30 years of service, was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of Vietnam and was a deacon of Juno Baptist Church.

His sister, Mary Padgett Goode; and brothers, Floyd Padgett and Dewey Padgett, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Deborah Padgett of Dawsonville; son, Dustin Padgett of Dawsonville; brother-in-law, Hermon Chester and his wife, Martha, of Dawsonville; sister-in-law, Guinnett Holtzclaw and her husband, Ray, of Dawsonville; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 20, at Juno Baptist Church with the Revs. Dennis Bottoms, Tim Biddy and Tommy Weldy officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with military honors.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville is in charge of the arrangements.
