Roger Lee Fitzsimonds

Roger Lee Fitzsimonds, 57, of Dawsonville, died July 23, 2010.

  

Mr. Fitzsimonds was born in Long Beach, Calif. on Sept. 28, 1952.

  

Mr. Fitzsimonds was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America, an accomplishment that was a source of great pride for him. He was a service member of the U.S. Navy and served in the Vietnam Conflict.

  

He won several medals for his service while in the Navy. He left the Navy in 1980 when he was honorably discharged, to begin his long career in the computer industry. He remained in the field for the remainder of his life and would have had it no other way.

  

He was an enthusiastic wood worker who enjoyed nothing more than to have a blank piece of wood to turn into something beautiful and useful.

  

He was the oldest son of Harold and Marjorie Fitzsimonds (deceased) of Riverton, Wyo.

  

Survivors include his twin brother and sister, Gerald Wesley Fitzsimonds and Jo Anne Solomon; wife of 18 years, Alison Mash Fitzsimonds; children, Lyndee Grace Fitzsimonds, Kelley John Fitzsimonds, Amanda Fitzsimonds Lawson; five grandchildren, Halle Marie Lawson, James Robert Lawson III, Jacob Wesley Lawson, Lorelei Elise Lawson, all of Kennesaw, Kyle Sherman Fitzsimonds of St. Augustine, Fla.; first wife, Doris Fitzsimonds Cooley; mother and father-in-law, Jim and Norma Mash; brothers-in-law, Bryan Mash, Alan Mash; various other relatives also survive.

  

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. July 30 in the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastors Tommy Chapman and Keith Lee officiating. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.

  

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. at Ingram Funeral Home.

  

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming is in charge of the arrangements.
