Roger Earl Worden, 81, of Cumming, died July 13, 2010.

Born in Elizabeth, N.J. on Feb. 11, 1929 and graduated from Nichols College in Dudley, Mass. in 1950, Roger was a gentleman; tall in stature, knowledge and heart.

He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve and was the founder and owner of Quick Flight Stair Co.

He was a champion skeet shooter and member of the River Bend Gun Club for many years.

Roger's love of animals, especially of horses and family dogs, lead him and his wife, Judith, to host equine assisted services for people with special needs at their farm, which inspired the creation of Driving Magic Inc., a therapeutic carriage driving program for people with disabilities.

Survivors include his wife, Judith; sons, David and Carol of North Carolina, John and Catherine; granddaughters, Elizabeth and Olivia of California; stepsons, Jeffrey and Steven LaCross; various other relatives also survive.

Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. July 17 at Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming. The Rev. Ron Preusse of Cumming First United Methodist Church, of which Roger and Judith are members, officiated.

In a private observance, Roger's ashes will be spread in the Amish Country of Ohio, the place where Roger found his greatest comfort.

In lieu of flowers, Judith Worden asked that donations be made in Roger's memory to Driving Magic Inc., P.O. Box 279, Duluth, GA 30096. All donations will go directly to the care of the therapeutic horses Roger so dearly loved and to a scholarship fund established in his name.

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
