Richard L. Cooksey, 69, of Dawsonville, died Sept. 17, 2010.

  

Born April 4, 1941 in Ashland, Ky. to the late James Ernest and Foew Adell Cooksey, he had lived in Dawsonville for five years, having moved from Camarillo, Calif. Mr. Cooksey was a retired mechanical engineer with D.A.C. with 12 years of service and was employed for many years with the 3M Company. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and an avid golfer.

  

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Cathryn "Cathy" Cooksey of Dawsonville; sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Lynda Cooksey, Danny and Teresa Cooksey, all of Dawsonville; stepmother, Grace Adkins of Ashland, Ky.; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Patty Cooksey of Kentucky; granddaughter, Trista Tenney; great-grandsons, Taye Wilburn, Kyan Wilburn; nephew, Troy Cooksey; niece, Cynthia Cooksey Schrand; various other relatives also survive.

  

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 9 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the hour of service.

  

In lieu of flowers, donations were requested made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.

  

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
