Rebekah Oliver, 77, of Dawsonville, died Sept. 26, 2017.

Born Aug. 11, 1940 to the late Jim and Luna Tatum, she was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. 

A graduate of Dawson County High School, she attended Reinhardt College and earned her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Georgia. Rebekah retired as a teacher in the Dawson County School System after over 40 years of service. 

She was a member of Juno Baptist Church where she served as the director of Vacation Bible School for over 20 years, and she enjoyed reading, her animals and was very devoted to her family. 

Her husband, Ray Oliver; and granddaughter, Savannah Stowers, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Chris and Maria Oliver of Moscow, Russia, Jimmy and Karen Oliver of Dawsonville, Candy Oliver and her fiancé Randy Wilson of Hiawassee; grandchildren, Christian Oliver, Claire Oliver, Daniel Oliver, Hayley Stowers, Alana Stowers; Randy’s children, Dillon, Madison, Daniel; sister, Mary Ruth Tatum of Dawsonville; brother and sister-in-law, J. D. and Dorothy Tatum of Dawsonville; various other relatives also survive.

The family received friends from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 29 at the funeral home.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Sept. 30 at Juno Baptist Church with Rev. Brody Hughes, Rev. Dennis Bottoms and Rev. Tim Biddy officiating.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Bearden Funeral Home in Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
