Peggy Ann Manning, 58, of Dawsonville, died May 3, 2013.

She was the daughter of Harley Shirley and the late Thelma Shirley Bagby.

Peggy worked for the Forsyth County Board of Education. She was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt.

She was a devoted friend that will be truly missed.

Her husband, Kenneth Manning; beloved grandson, Tristan Keown; and brother, Jerald Shirley, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Cheryl Barnes, Jerry Barnes, Terry Barnes, all of Winder, Tammy Keown of Buford, Veronica Manning of Dawsonville; brothers, James Shirley, Kenney Shirley; sisters, Cynthia Hudgins, Debra Earnest, Fannie Mae Ingram, Ann Abernathy; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; special family/caregivers, granddaughter, Keshia Barnes of Dawsonville; sister-in-law, Sherry Koonce of Dawsonville; niece, Tracy Brown of Dawsonville; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. May 5 in the McDonald and Son Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Peggy to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.

McDonald and Son Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
