Oletta Disharoon, 87, of Dawsonville, died May 31, 2017.

Born March 10, 1930 to the late Crawford and Ola Belle Bearden, Oletta was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and also attended Bethel Baptist Church regularly.

A homemaker for most of her life, she also served as one of the first teachers for the Head Start program in Dawson County.

Oletta had a great love for her church and community.

Her husband, Clyde Disharoon; daughter, Janie Odum; grandson, Matthew Wilson; great-granddaughter, Morgan Disharoon; sisters, Lille Hall, Dot Southern and Juanita Sumner, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, David and Regina Disharoon of Gainesville, Danny and Eulene Disharoon, Cathy and David Wilson, Gary and Nancy Disharoon, all of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Shawn and Misty Kilgore, Chris Disharoon, Ryan and Jessica Disharoon, Keli Walden, Kristie Patterson, Jason and Cheree Disharoon, Stephen and Summer Disharoon, Michael Wilson, Lauren and Caleb Warren, Lance and Jenny Disharoon, Clay Disharoon; great-grandchildren, Alex, Ella, Andrew, Meghan, Lindsey, Cale, Makenna, Aria, Jensen, Kaylen; sisters, Thelma and Junior Chester of Dawsonville, Betty and James Anderson of Alabama; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. June 3 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Russell Burt, Stephen Davis and Jason Hamby officiating. Interment followed in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
