Morris "Moose" Griffin

Morris "Moose" Griffin, 79, of Dawson, formerly of Tifton, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009.

  

He was retired and worked as a shipping clerk with J.P. Steven for 37 years.

  

He was of the Baptist faith and a lifetime resident of Tifton.

  

Mr. Griffin was born on Dec. 5, 1930, in Berrien County and was the son of Newton Griffin and May Belle Hancock Griffin, both deceased.

  

Three brothers, Cecil Griffin, Marvin Griffin, Melvin Griffin; two sisters, Ruby Coker, Dorothy Clemons; and, one granddaughter, Tori Griffin, also preceded him in death.

  

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Nix Griffin of Dawson, formerly of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerel Morris and Patsy Griffin of Quitman; one brother, Eston Griffin of Helen; three grandchildren and their spouses, Stephen and Sonja Griffin of Dawson, Melody and Richard Kennedy of Tifton, Becky Griffin Baker of Tifton; and eight great-grandchildren.

  

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 15, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Chris Ramsey officiating. Burial followed in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

  

Great-grandsons, Josh Baker and Levi Griffin, and nephews, Wendell Gregory, Jason Revels, Dustin Griffin and Buddy Coker, served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were great-grandsons, Bradley Griffin, Bently Griffin and Wesley Griffin, and nephew, Phillip Weaver.

Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals in Tifton was in charge of the arrangements.
