Monique "Nikki" Medlock Porter, 42, of Dawsonville, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009.

  

Born at Perrin Air Force Base near Sherman, Texas, she lived most of her life in Dawsonville.

  

Monique was a graduate of Dawson County High School, where she participated in the Drill Team.

  

She graduated from Lanier Tech, after which she worked as a hair stylist and barber and was currently a manager/stylist with Sports Clips in Cumming.

  

She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church.

  

Her grandparents, Ralph and Cathryn Medlock; and mother, Nancy Medlock preceded her in death.

  

Survivors include her husband, Mark Porter of Dawsonville; daughter, Ragen Medlock of Dawsonville; father, Ron Medlock of Crestview, Fla.; brothers, James "Kaala" Souza of Kailua, Hawaii, Walker Medlock of Panama City, Fla.; sisters, Marisa Wagner of Warner Robbins, Roxanne Medlock, Renee Medlock, both of Crestview, Fla.; uncles and aunts, Ralph and Lorraine Medlock of Lugoff, S.C., Randy and Carol Medlock, Rick and Connie Medlock, all of Dawsonville; various other relatives also survive.

  

Funeral services were held at noon Friday, Oct. 2 at Lighthouse Baptist Church with the Revs. Charles Blackstock and Frank Whitmire officiating.

  

In lieu of flowers, donations were requested made to Lighthouse Baptist Church, 329 Harmony Church Road, Dawsonville, GA 30534.

  

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
