Merlin "Mike" Melancon, 86, of Dawsonville, died Aug. 11, 2011.
Born June 27, 1925 in New Orleans, La., to the late Emile and Corrine Melancon, he had been a resident of Dawson County for the past 18 years.
Mr. Melancon was a retired United States Air Force Master Sergeant and a veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, who was dedicated to his family, his twin brother, Melvin Peter Melancon, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Yvonne Melancon of Dawsonville; son and daughter-in-law, Richard Melancon and Emily Monroe of Cumming; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Fred Flohr of Westford, Mass.; grandchildren, Jeff and Karla Flohr, Nick Flohr, Clay Monroe-Melancon, Dustin Monroe-Melancon and Rodney Monroe-Melancon; various other relatives also survive.
Private services will be held.
Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville is in charge of the arrangements.
