Merle M. Meredith, 94, of Gainesville, Forsyth County, died July 5, 2014.

Born Sept. 10, 1919 in Forest, La. to the late James and Mary Jane May, she later lived a short time in Florida.

In her teen years, she moved to Atlanta where she graduated from Draughn Business College and was employed at Sears Roebuck and Company.

While they both were working at Sears, she married Malcolm Johnson Meredith on May 19, 1939 and their marriage was blessed and strong for 65 years until his death in 2004 at age 94.

From 1954 to 1976 she worked at The Westminster Schools in Atlanta.

Mrs. Meredith was a long time member of Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church and the Church Of The Apostles in Atlanta.

At her death, she was a member of the Church Of The Apostles in Dawsonville. Merle knew well that the most important thing in her life was her salvation and personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Survivors include her sons and daughters in law, Robert "Bob" and Mary Meredith, Gil and Bonnie Meredith, all of Dawsonville, Ron Meredith of Scottsdale, Ariz.; grandchildren, Brin and Pagent Meredith, Morgan and Wes Tjepkema; great grandchildren, Gil Meredith III, Anna Meredith, Meredith May Tjepkema, Warner Tjepkema; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. July 8 at Northview Cemetery in Hartwell

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church Of The Apostles, 32 Grant Road West, Dawsonville, GA 30534.

Bearden Funeral Home in Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
