Marcelle Ledbetter, 86, of Dawsonville, died June 25, 2017.
Born Feb. 23, 1931, to the late Guy T. and Lela E. Gilreath, she was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. A homemaker at her death, she was formerly employed at Sweet-Orr and the Dawson County Board of Education.
Marcelle was very devoted to her family, her church and her community.
She enjoyed being outdoors and working in her flower gardens. A member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, her husband of 57 years, Hubert "Pete" Ledbetter; and a brother, Lloyd Gilreath, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children, Troy and Betsy Ledbetter of Jasper, Kay and Bill Mills of Cumming, Beth and Carlton Chester of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Travis Ledbetter, Nathan and Jessica Ledbetter, Andrew and Skylar Mills, Jed and Nicole Mills; great-grandchildren, Trace Ledbetter, Kaitlin Ledbetter, Sarah Jo Mills; brothers and sisters-in-law, Morris and Peggy Gilreath of Gainesville, Donald Gilreath, Jean Gilreath, both of Dawsonville, David Gilreath of Jasper; various other relatives also survive.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. June 27 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with the remains placed in state at 1:30 p.m. The Revs. Rodney Pilcher, Jason Hamby, Clyde Boling and Gary Keown officiating. Interment followed in church cemetery.
Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
