Mack Mixer, 69, of Dawsonville, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009.

Born Aug. 19, 1940 in Valdosta to the late Burke and Jane Mixer, he had lived in Dawson County for the past 10 years, having moved from Sebring, Fla.

Mr. Mixer formerly owned and operated Mixer Electric Company in Valdosta, after which he moved to Orlando, Fla., where he lived 17 years and was employed by Hughes Supply Inc.

For 10 years, along with his wife, they owned Winterset Motel in Sebring. He was an employee and later an avid volunteer with Thunder Road and was the caretaker of Lumpkin Campground. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

His brother, Leon Burke Mixer II, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Joy Mixer of Dawsonville; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and John Fauley of Longwood, Fla., Janet Mixer of Dawsonville, Christine and James Menezes of Live Oak, Fla.; sister, Jane Sherwood of Valdosta; grandchildren, Michelle and Robert Boylan, Audra Osborn, Heather Fauley, Chris Mixer, Amanda Menezes, Laura Menezes, Jimmy Menezes; great-grandchildren, Jacob Boylan, Juliana Boylan, Yuri Smith, Brandon Mixer and Tyler Mixer; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. James Lemley, David Gravitt and Dr. Orin Sampson officiating. Interment followed in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
