Lillie Mae Fields, 93, of Dahlonega, died Jan. 14, 2016.

Born Oct. 26, 1922 in Atlanta, to the late King and Mamie Wallis, she lived in Lumpkin County since 2004, having moved from Canton.

A homemaker at her death, for several years she owned and operated Midway Restaurant in Forsyth County. Lillie Mae enjoyed travel and was very devoted to spending time with her family.

She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Dawsonville and was a former member of DeFoor Baptist Church in Atlanta.

Her husband, J.C. Fields; sons, Loyd Yancey, Earnest Fields; grandson, Mark Yancey; three sisters and four brothers, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Donna Roper of Gainesville, Jimmy Fields of Dahlonega, Lisa Franklin of Canton, Sue and Gerald Coker of Bowersville; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Janie DeVore of Atlanta; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 18 at Lighthouse Baptist Church with the remains placed in state at 1 p.m., with the Dr. Charles Blackstock and the Rev. Frank Whitmire officiating. Interment followed in the Long Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery in Pickens County.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
