Leonard Evans, 90, of Cumming, died Nov. 9, 2017.
He has finished his journey here on Earth and has gone to be with his Heavenly Father and his grandson, Cody.
Leonard was a deacon at Lebanon Baptist Church for 66
years and a pillar of the community. He was a custodian at Forsyth Central High
School where he was loved by all students and faculty. Papa was truly an angel
that walked the Earth. He loved and was loved by all that knew him.
His grandson, Joshua Cody Evans; his parents, Henry and Ella Evans; his brothers, JB Evans, Manuel Evans; and his sisters, Ruby Nichols and Ruthie Cranford, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Laura Kate Evans; his son, Michael (Sandra) Evans; his sister, Thelma Nichols; grand-daughter Whitney (Paul) Harper, great-grandchildren, Layla and Deacon Harper; great-godsons Luke and Lawson Burruss.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 in the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Sawnee View Gardens. Officiating were Rev. Brandon Benefield and Rev. Harold Evans.
The family received friends from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Nov. 10 and from 9 a.m. until hour of the service Nov. 11.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office ‘Shop with a Cop’ program, 19 Tucker Ave., Dawsonville, Ga. 30534. Papa loved children and this will help the less fortunate of the community have Christmas gifts on his behalf.
