Lee Perry, 75, of Cumming, died Jan. 8, 2011.

Born in Atlanta on Aug. 3, 1935, he was the son of the late Eddie and Dorothy Perry.

His son, Steven, also preceded him in death.

He graduated from Grady High School in 1953 and Georgia Tech in 1957 before entering Emory School of Law, where he served as editor of the Emory Wheel.

Following graduation in 1961 and passing the Bar Exam, Lee went to work for the Supreme Court of Georgia as law assistant to Justice Carlton Mobley. Lee married Carole Brendel in 1962.

He spent most of his 34 working years serving as law assistant to several Justices - including the Hon. Charles Weltner, a scholar proficient in several ancient biblical languages. A friendship developed between them due to a number of shared interests.

Lee also served under Attorney General Arthur K. Bolton for several years. He retired in 1995 as Law Assistant to the Supreme Court of Georgia.

Lee was also interested in researching the history and culture of Great Britain and especially Ireland and made several extensive trips to do research and present his papers. He learned to speak Gaelic, the old language spoken in Ireland and Scotland - and was always hoping to meet a fellow speaker.

Lee spent several years researching and writing his book, "The Holy Grail Cosmos of the Bible," for which he studied ancient biblical languages and translations of ancient texts with the help of Justice Welter who wrote the preface to his book.

Lee was also a gardener who enjoyed sharing surplus vegetables from his garden.

Target shooting at the River Bend Gun Club, where he was one of the oldest active members, was his favorite hobby.

Survivors include his wife, Carole Perry of Cumming; sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Jill Perry of Dawsonville, Brendan and Susan Perry of Goshen, Va., Conor and Beth Perry of Cumming; grandchildren, Jessica and Kent; various other relatives also survive.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

McDonald and Son Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming is in charge of the arrangements.
