Larry Smith Sr., 67, of Dawsonville, died Nov. 26, 2013.

Mr. Smith had been a resident of Dawsonville for more than 20 years, coming from Florida. Born Nov. 6, 1946, he was affectionately known as "Pops," an avid fisherman, and enjoyed doing yard work.

He was dump truck driver for many years and had been employed by Turner Excavation and Brooks Hauling.

His parents, Howard and Mildred Smith; son, Larry Smith Jr.; and brother, Jerry Smith, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra C. Smith of Dawsonville; sons and daughter-in-law, Troy L. Smith of Dawsonville, Brian C. and Genie Smith of Macon; daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Charles Freeman of Covington, Melissa and Rodney Brown of Dawsonville, Michelle and James Carver of Arkansas; sister and brother-in-law, Debra and Dan Rouse of Oregon; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Brenda Smith, Roy and Dianne Smith, all of Rock Mart, Ronald and Connie Smith of Dallas; grandchildren, Craig Smith, Christian Dupler, Cameron Smith, Tabitha Smith, Ashley Dupler, Johnathon Smith; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. Nov. 29, 2013 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Blackstock officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations be made to help offset final expenses.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
