Obituaries

Lane Bailey, 85, of Oakwood, died Aug. 5, 2017.


Born March 12, 1932 in Dawson County, to the late Bill and Dora Bailey, he lived most of his life in Hall County.


Mr. Bailey retired from Gold Kist 36, after years of service.


He enjoyed hunting and fishing.


His wife, Marell Bailey; sister, Eunice Sosebee Beck; and a brother, Juno “Bud” Bailey, also preceded him in death.


Survivors include his children, Ray and Margaret Bailey, Terry Bailey, all of Gainesville, Sheila and Jack McAllister of Atlanta, Mike Bailey of Oakwood; his first wife of 46 years and the mother of this children, Mildred Bailey of Oakwood; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Mildred Adams of Trion, Ruby and Ed Lipscomb of Pelzer, S.C.; various other relatives also survive.


Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 11 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe Vernon officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.


The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 10 at the funeral home.
