Kirk W. Brookshire, 61, of Dawsonville, died Jan. 13, 2018.
Born Nov. 29, 1956 in the Ancón Canal Zone he had been living in Dawson County since 1999 having moved from Forsyth County.
Kirk grew up as an “Army Brat” and traveled the world with his family. He was a graduate of Riverside Military Academy and North Georgia College. Mr. Brookshire was an Eagle Scout and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran where he served as a Marine Paratrooper. Most recently he worked as an over the road driver for a commercial transportation company. He was a gun enthusiast and was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan.
Two brothers, Jeffrey Brookshire and Timothy Brookshire, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Cindy Brookshire of Dawsonville; children, Shannon Brookshire of Alpharetta, William Brookshire of Dawsonville; parents, LTC (R) George W. “Bill” and Jane Brookshire of Dawsonville; sister, Sarah Brookshire of Gainesville; sister-in-law, Kimberly Brookshire of Henderson, Md.; nieces, Emily Brookshire and Amy Brookshire; various other relatives also survive.
A Celebration of Life reception will be held from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Jan. 27 at his residence.
