Katie E. Garrett, 93, of Dawsonville, died Jan. 9, 2013.

Born April 29, 1919, to the late George and Lillie Mae McGuire, she was a lifelong resident of Dawson County.

Mrs. Garrett was a homemaker and member of Concord Baptist Church.

Her husband, Floyd Garrett; son, Jerry Garrett; grandchildren, Pam Garrett, Brandon Miller; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elige and Millie Garrett; sisters, Pearl Pearson, Lora Dooley; and brothers, Grady McGuire and Edgar McGuire, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Larry and Margie Garrett, Sis and Jerry Gibson, Butch and Helen Garrett, Ronnie and Connie Garrett, Mike and Hayley Garrett, all of Dawsonville; daughters-in-law, Ellen Garrett Johnson of Dawsonville, Vickie Jan Pauda of Gainesville; grandchildren, Angie and Jeff Cantrell, Steve and Barbara Garrett, Eddie Garrett, Jerry Garrett, Patty and James Day, Cody Garrett, Michael Garrett, Sandy and Jerry Dempsey; great-grandchildren, Parker Cantrell, Jerrah Cantrell, Taylor Day, Anna Dempsey, Cale Dempsey, Russell Garrett, Kiley Garrett; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 12 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Orr and the Revs. Glenn Byrd, Stephen Davis, Harold Bottoms and Michael Garrett officiating. Interment followed in the Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Flowers were accepted, or donations were requested made to Chestnut Ridge Nursing Center, c/o Activities Department, 125 Samaritan Drive, Cumming, GA 30040.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
