Johnie Sheffield, 71, of Dawsonville, died July 23, 2013.

Born Nov. 11, 1941, to the late Hubert and Onie Slaton, Johnie was a lifelong resident of Dawson County.

A homemaker at her death, she was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church.

Her husband, Tommy Sheffield; and a son, Joey Sheffield, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her grandson, Eric Sheffield of Dawsonville; great-grandson, Andrew Sheffield of Dawsonville; sisters, Kathryn Jones, Peggy Slaton, both of Dawsonville; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. July 26, in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Lemley officiating. Interment followed in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to help with final expenses.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
