John A. Cahill, 69, of Dawsonville, died Dec. 26, 2012.

Born Jan. 16, 1943, in Kinston, N.C., to the late John A. Sr. and Marjorie Cahill, he had lived in Dawson County for the past 10 years, having moved from Homestead, Fla.

Mr. Cahill was a Systems Technician with BellSouth and retired following 39 years of service.

He spent 30 of his early years in Peabody, Mass., where he graduated from Boston College High School.

John was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and was a member of Christ Redeemer Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Judith Cahill of Dawsonville; sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Becky Cahill of Cumming, Brian and Jessica Cahill of Miami, Fla.; sisters, Rosemary Gryniewicz of Windham, N.H., Elizabeth Brancaleone of Glouster, Mass., brothers, Richard Cahill of Newburyport, Mass., Daniel Cahill of Homosassa, Fla.; grandchildren, Jimmy, Ryan, Jace, Ella, Ariana and Jason; various other relatives also survive.

A funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. Dec. 31 at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church with the Fr. Brian Higgins officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations be made to Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church Building Fund, 993 Kilough Church Road, Dawsonville, GA 30534.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
