J.M. Pelfrey, 82, of Dawsonville, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010.

  

Born Jan. 28, 1927 in Fannin County to the late Morgan and Carrie Pelfrey, he moved to Dawson County from Smyrna in 1958. Along with his son, they owned and operated Pelfrey’s Electrical Contractors.

  

Mr. Pelfrey was employed by Lockheed from 1958 until the Dawsonville operation closed in 1970. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, where he served in the Pacific Theater and was of the Baptist faith.

  

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Regenia Pelfrey of Dawsonville; son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Deborah Pelfrey of Dawsonville; sisters, Ida Grace Henson of Ringgold, Victoria Crider of Tunnel hill; grandchildren, Kendy and Todd Bennett, Travis and Jody Pelfrey; great-grandchildren, Taylor Bennett, Kane Pelfrey, Chloe Bennett, Emma Pelfrey; various other relatives also survive.

  

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 12 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. Orin Sampson officiating. Interment followed in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

  

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
