Jimmy Foster, 66, of Dahlonega, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009.

  

Mr. Foster was a lifelong resident of Lumpkin County and for many years he was a commercial truck driver, after which he owned Foster's Variety Store.

  

Until his retirement he was employed by Pinkerton Security. Jimmy had a passion for music and was well known as an accomplished guitarist. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was preceded in death by his parents, Arvel and Lydia Foster; niece, Carol Vandiviere.

  

Survivors include his children, Kathy and Charles Millsap, Steve and Terri Foster, all of Dahlonega; sisters and brothers-in-law, Frances and Johnny Vandiviere, Lois and Hayne Tatum, all of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Eddie and Amber Millsap, Amy and Chad Mobley, Tiffani Foster and Jacob Foster; various other relatives also survive.

  

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10 at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Emerson Payne officiating.

  

Interment followed in the church cemetery.

  

In lieu of flowers, donations were asked to be made toward the final expenses.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
