Jessie LaMerle "Sam" Holtzclaw Singleton, 74, of Dawsonville, died Jan. 2, 2017.
Mrs. Singleton was born Aug. 8, 1942, and raised in Cumming and Alpharetta.
She had been a resident of Dawsonville for most of her life.
A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, she worked very hard to raise her family.
She was an avid reader and regular patron of the Dawson County Library.
An attendant of Goshen Baptist Church, Mrs. Singleton loved southern gospel music and had worked for more than 20 years as a cashier at the Circle M in downtown Dawsonville.
Her mother, Mary Ball, and sister, JoAnne Oliver, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Johnny Singleton of Dawsonville; children, Teresa Singleton, Lynn and Donald Fouts, Tony and Laura Singleton, all of Dawsonville, Shanna and George Deitsh of Montana; grandchildren, Amber Singleton, Brian and April Fouts, Kyle and Wendy Singleton, John Hendrix, Savanna Fouts; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruenell and Roy Ingram, Mary Sue McGinnis, Elaine Reid; various other relatives also survive.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Jan. 5 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Ronny Bennett and Tommy Panter officiating.
Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
