Jan Grimes, 84, died Nov. 25, 2017.

His parents, Dewey and Ione Grimes; and brothers, Dale and Gary Grimes, preceded him in death.

He loved helping other people, especially people who served our community such as firemen, policemen and anyone working in public service. Jan wrote many articles in the newspaper trying to help them under the name of “The Simple Man.” He is waiting at the Rainbow Bridge with his special dogs, Lil Bit and Max….wish they had visiting hours at the Rainbow Bridge.

Survivors include his wife, Kay Grimes; daughters, Cindy Grimes, Michelle and her husband Dean Fredriksen; granddaughters (who meant the world to him), Kristen, Kelsey and her husband Mauro; a very, very special sister, Jill and her husband Ken Beck; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Joe Wilkinson, John Schwartz, Tom Berry, David Martin, Weldon Sheriff, Tom Deal and many, many more; various other relatives also survive.

A graveside service is planned for Jan within the next few weeks at the cemetery in Oliver Springs, Tenn.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
