Obituaries

James “Red” Newsham, 68, of Dawsonville, died Nov. 3, 2017.

Born May 24, 1949 in New Bedford, Mass. to the late Enoch and Doreen Newsham, he moved from New Hampshire 25 years ago and to Dawson County from Alpharetta 21 years ago. 

Mr. Newsham retired as an IT Manager with Hewlett-Packard after 25 years of service. He enjoyed reading, camping, hiking, wildlife and relaxing on his front porch. James was an avid supporter of the U.S. military and the veterans. He was a very devoted husband and father.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Jenna; son, Nathan Newsham of Hagerstown, Md; granddaughters, Samantha Newsham, Ashlee Thomas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Lucille Newsham of Bluffton, S.C., Ed and Doreen Newsham of New Bedford, Mass.; nieces, Carolyn, Heather, Andrea; nephew, Jeff; and his cat, Rusty; various other relatives also survive.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at Bearden Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
