James R. King, 78, of Dawsonville, died March 15, 2015.

Born Sept. 3, 1936 in Pierce County, he had lived in Dawson County for more than 34 years, having moved from Lawrenceville.

Mr. King earned a degree in civil engineering and for 30 years he owned and operated King Grading Contractors and was a member of Bible Baptist Church.

His sister, Coleen Wheeler, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Dana C. King of Dawsonville; children, Cindy King, Jim King, both of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Danielle King, Josh King and Ciarra King, various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. March 18 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roland Barlowe officiating. Interment will follow in the Alta Vista Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested made to Macedonia World Baptist Missions, P.O. Box 519, Braselton, GA 30517 for David Harper, in memory of the James King Family.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville is in charge of the arrangements.
