Retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel James Pinkston Flowers, 76, of Dawsonville, died April 6, 2019.
Jimmy, as known by his many friends, grew up in Dawson, graduating from Terrell High School in 1960. He went on to North Georgia College, where he graduated in 1964 and joined the Army.
He served 20 years, with tours in Vietnam, Taiwan, and Germany before ending his career at the Pentagon.
Following retirement, he joined USAA, a national security company, and quickly became Executive Vice President of Administration, Operations and Human Resources.
Jimmy was the son of Mrs. Wayland (Leila) Flowers and the brother of Wayland Flowers, Jr. (of "Wayland and Madame" fame) (deceased). His sister, Frankie Flowers Van Cleave, resides in Marietta. He is also survived by his wife, Suzanne Cameron Flowers, three children (Stacie, Patrick, and Laura) and grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. April 12 at St. Peters Chapel in Roswell. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on April 11 at Northside Chapel Funeral Home. Interment will follow at 11 a.m. April 15 in the Georgia Memorial Cemetery in Canton.
